The big break is on for tonight
The big freak is lickin' pipe tonight
The prettiest word is teak
Some of the guys are getting together tonight to read Last of the Mohicans
The big stink moves like a moth towards the light

This show was conceived in John Roeba's studio in Philadelphia at the beginning of December based on the curators' conversation about emerging artists and their work. The works on view represent a wide array of disparate approaches that find common ground in process through time, medium and materiality, and intent, chance. Each of these artists and their works are part of the conversation Roebas and Juan have built. The studio visit is its own forum, not only for presentation, but curation. In some ways, we have materialized ours.

Robin Juan was born in San Francisco, California in 1987. She holds a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago with concentration in Art History and Photography. She is the Founder and Curatorial Director of HungryMan Gallery Chicago and San Francisco, since 2008. Her photographic works have been shown in Chicago, New York, and soon in Oakland, CA at Important Projects.

John Roebas was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras in 1985. He lives and works in Philadelphia, Pa and holds a BFA in painting from the Tyler School of Art (Temple University). Recently exhibited at Crane Arts (Philadelphia) and will be publishing an edition of drawings with Bodega Press (Philadelphia).
